Here are some collocations related to work:

I’ve been offered a job/ work in Vietnam.
What is your holiday entitlement? (number of days you can take as holidays)
I’m a mechanic.
I’m in banking/ marketing. (work in a field of)
It’s hard to make a living as a freelance designer. (earn a living from something or by doing something)
I’m going to apply for a job. (make a formal application or request)
I’m/ I got promoted as a marketing manager. (raise to a higher position or rank)

 

Hours of work

I’m on flexible time. (time can be adapted to different circumstances)
I can work nine to five. (in typical office hours, often to express an idea of predictable routine)
I work shifts/ do shift work. (recurring periods in which different groups of workers do the same jobs)

 

State of not working

I’m on/ taking sick leave for a day. (paid time away from work when you are sick)
I’m on/ taking maternity leave or paternity leave. (paid time away from work to care for newly born)
My company made him redundant.  (do not employ because there is no more work available)
My company laid me off. (dismiss when business slows down)
He/ She was fired/ got the sack. (dismiss from work for inappropriate behaviour)
He/ She got transferred.  (move to another department or occupation)
