The following expressions can be used when you talk about nationalities and countries.

Countries


ASEAN consists of 10 member states— Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. The Democratic republic of Timor-Leste is the only country in this region that is not a member because Timor-Leste became a sovereign state in 2002.

Capital cities

Capital city refers to the city or town that functions as the seat of government and administrative center of a country or region. In 2004, Myanmar relocated its capital city from Yangoon to Nay Pyi Daw to facilitate accessibility of the government from all parts of the country.

Nationalities

Nationality means ethnic groups forming a part of one or more political nations, marked as adjectives referring to countries and languages.

-ic Arabic, Slavonic

Note: Most of the countries do not have ‘the’ in front, but in some countries, ‘the’ is used before them, e.g. The Philippines, The United States, The United Kingdom.
