You can talk about or describe something in terms of size, shape, color, and special features.

Comparison and measurement:

Pattern Example

It’s + adjective.
It’s as + adjective + as a noun.
It’s about + adjective phrase.

It’s  pretty/ big/ large/ small.
It’s  as big as a CD.
It’s about 5 centimeters long.

 

Colors and materials:

Pattern Example

It’s made of + noun.

There is/ are + noun.

It’s got a + noun.
It has + noun.

It’s made of wood/ stone/ marble/ brick/ concrete/ glass/ leather/ metal.
There are long brown strings at one end like a mop.
It’s got a wide handle in the middle.
It has handles at both ends.

 

Thickness and shapes:

Pattern Example

It’s made of + noun phrase.
It’s + noun.

It’s made of white and black plastic.
It’s mostly clear plastic with a little blue stripes.
